“ It had been some time since my last visit, and I immediately noticed a change in the menu. I couldn't help but wonder if there had been a change in ownership. Despite this, I was pleased to find that their XLB was still as delicious as ever. However, I must say that their popcorn chicken was a bit too salty for my liking. The lava bun, while different from their black bun, was still quite enjoyable. Overall, this remains my kids' favorite spot solely for the XLB. The rest of the dishes were just okay in my opinion. ”

Along with that, we also ordered the veg fried rice, pork and shrimp potstickers, and a refreshing Thai tea. Every dish was a solid 10/10! We decided to try something new and opted for the beef brisket soup, which turned out to be pretty good. The broth was lighter than we anticipated, earning it an 8/10 in our books. As I walked in, I couldn't help but notice the chefs behind a glass window meticulously crafting each dumpling to order. It was a unique and interactive touch that added to the charm of the humble dining room. I decided to start off with the Xiao Long Bao, and I was impressed by the care that went into making each one. The dumpling wrappers were freshly rolled out and filled with juicy minced pork before being steamed to perfection. The combination of the soupy filling, ginger, and vinegar dipping sauce was a delight to my taste buds. The skin of the dumplings was just the right texture - soft yet chewy. Another standout dish was the Pan Fried Bao, filled with a savory pork mixture that was encased in a doughy wrapper and pan-fried to create a crispy bottom. The contrast in textures was amazing, and I couldn't get enough of the flavorful filling. I recently had the pleasure of trying their Dan Dan noodles and beef noodle soup, both of which were decent. However, it was the dumplings that truly stole the show - each one handmade, bursting with juicy flavors, and incredibly fresh. I must say, I prefer this little spot over any other dumpling place in SF! ”

We decided to try three dishes from their menu and we were not disappointed. The dishes arrived promptly, and we enjoyed watching the xiaolongbao being expertly prepared in front of us. The broccoli with garlic sauce was a solid 8/10, while the chong qing spicy chicken stole the show with a solid 9/10 rating. The spicy pork xiao long bao was also a tasty option, scoring a respectable 7/10. However, the true standout of the meal was the dessert black golden cream custard bao. Filled with a delectable yellow yolk custard, it struck the perfect balance of sweetness without being overwhelming, earning a near-perfect score of 9.8/10. Overall, our dining experience was a delightful one and I would definitely consider returning in the future.
